Style Comparison: Men’s Sandals

Sandals come in a bunch of varieties and prices.  There are cheap shower flip-flops, hiking sandals, European, handmade, leather walking sandals and countless others.  Today I am comparing a few different styles that are very different from one another but all within the sandal category.  Hopefully this can help you select a new favorite pair of warm weather walkers for this spring and summer.

First up is the Mephisto Sabbo – Dark Oak Scratch.  I must say that this is up there as one of the nicest flip-flops or thong sandals that I have ever worn.  This sandal is crafted from very fine leathers and has an amazing suede foot bed that feels wonderful on the bottom of my foot.  The support is pretty incredible for a sandal like this.  My favorite part of the Sabbo is the sole.  The sole is 100% shock absorbing caoutchouc rubber.  It feels like an athletic shoe!  There are two drawbacks of the Sabbo.  First, it lacks the security of a more substantial sandal.  Second, it’s pretty pricey for a flip-flop at $164.95.  However, this sandal really is amazing and I think it is worth every cent.  The Mephisto Sabbo sandal is perfect for the guy who does not like the confinement of lace up shoes but demands the comfort, support and quality for which Mephisto is known.

Conclusion: The Sabbo looks great and feels even better.

The Teva – Fossil Canyon – Cigar Brown is a lightweight walking/hiking sandal.  I really like this choice because it is comfortable, waterproof and nice looking all at a very reasonable $79.95.  Obviously this type of sandal is going to hold your feet in pretty snug when compared to the Sabbo flip-flop.  Also, the antibacterial treatment of the insole is great for those who take advantage of the waterproof leather uppers and get this Teva dirty.  The treatment reduces the odor and the nastiness that can arise from the creeks, puddles or every day wear.   The only negative that I came up with is that the arch support is not as prominent as in the Mephisto or Keen.

Conclusion:  This sandal could be your perfect daily walking or casual hiking footwear of choice.  The price is great too!

The last style to be reviewed today is the Keen – Newport H2 – Brindle/Orion Blue.  The Newport H2 is the leader in the hiking sandal category.  This sandal provides protection for your toes, great support and is totally waterproof.  I recommend this style for any person who loves to get outdoors and needs some footwear that can keep up.  You can use this shoe for hiking, water activities or going to summer music concerts.  Whatever your use you will love the comfort, durability and versatility.  However there are a few minor draw backs to this Keen sandal.  The Newport H2 is not the easiest to get onto your foot or the lightest.  The drawbacks aside this sandal might just become your new summer time favorite.

Conclusion: If you like this sandal then you will love it.   It’s not for everyone.

I chose these three sandals because I like them all.  They are all very different but one might be perfect for you!
